What happens when you give God His tithes and offerings? Yes it’s His!

The word “tithe” means “a tenth.”

One-tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord and must be set apart to him as holy.

Leviticus 27:30

If we were to total up all the taxes we pay, it would be over 50% of what we make, and they continue raising taxes every year!

I wonder how much of that is given back to the people who pay it?   Oh, I know that they do some good, but the bigger question is how much do they waste?

Did you know that God has never raised tithing percent?

God has a different plan for His people: The Bible says that God will use what we give to Him to bless us!

“Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”

Malachi 3:8-10

Giving to God brings blessings to us.

Remember this, a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”  And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.  As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”  For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.

2 Corinthians 9:6-10

There are three kinds of givers: the flint, the sponge and the honeycomb.

  • To get anything out of a flint you must hammer it. And then you get only chips and sparks.
  • To get water out of a sponge you must squeeze it, and the more you use pressure, the more you will get.
  • But the honeycomb just overflows with its own sweetness. Which kind of giver are you?

How does God bless us for giving? “I will open (just for you) the windows of heaven. And I will pour out (just for you) such blessings that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

Someone wrote:

  • When the windows of Heaven are opened over your home, there is joy and happiness.
  • When the windows of Heaven are opened over business, there is fruitfulness and prosperity.
  • When the windows of heaven are opened over your minds, there is peace and confidence.
