“Oh, that you would burst from the heavens and come down! How the mountains would quake in your presence! As fire causes wood to burn and water to boil, your coming would make the nations tremble. Then your enemies would learn the reason for your fame! When you came down long ago, you did awesome deeds beyond our highest expectations. And oh, how the mountains quake! For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!”

Isaiah 64:1-4

All of God’s nature declares how awesome our God is.

I have been to a mountaintop in Idaho, and there I saw the awesomeness of God.

I have been to the plains of Kansas, and there I saw the awesomeness of God.

I have been into the swamps of Louisiana, and there I saw the awesomeness of God.

I have been in the Ozark mountains, and there I saw the awesomeness of our God.

Everywhere I go, I find God’s awesomeness!

I have seen how awesome God is in the sunshine and in the storms. I have seen how awesome God is at night and during the day. But greater than all of that, I have seen and experienced God’s awesomeness in my own heart and life!  Yes, our God is an awesome God!

The Greatest Revelation of God’s Awesomeness

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16

Wonderful Grace of Jesus

“Wonderful grace of Jesus, greater than all my sin.

How shall my tongue describe it, where shall its praise begin?

Taking away my burden, setting my spirit free,

O the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus.

Deeper than the mighty rolling sea.

Wonderful grace all sufficient for me.

Broader than the scope of my transgressions,

greater far than all my sin and shame.

O magnify the precious name of Jesus,

Praise His name!”

Haldor Lillenas, 1918

Holy and Awesome

“He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name.”

Psalm 111:9 (KJV)

My Prayer

Lord, help me keep your awesomeness in mind even as I walk daily with you and draw near to you in prayer. When I receive your fatherly embrace, may I realize just how amazing it is to have such a relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of lords. When I come before you in worship, may I come with reverence even with childlike openness. Continue to reveal to me how awesome you are. Amen.
