Not long ago I was with my son, Allen, who is a home builder.  He was building a very large house. I saw the plans (blueprints) that he had. They were quite complicated to me, but to him, they were a guide to the completion of this house because he knew how to read them.

”For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.  “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.  In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly you will find me.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13

Does God promise us that He has a plan for our lives? The answer is yes. The Bible is filled with stories of great men and women that God made plans for.  All we have to do is read the Hebrews 11 and you’ll see how God worked in the lives of numerous people throughout Scripture.

God’s people have always been part of God’s plans.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him….”

II Chronicles 16:9

God is actively looking for someone to bless. His eyes search the entire earth looking for someone in whose life He can work.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10

God has a plan for your life. God has a bunch of stuff planned just for you to do. And He has prepared all those good works beforehand… just for you.

You have a reason to get up in the morning. You have a purpose and goal in your life. You make a difference in the lives of people around you. You matter. You have value. You are important to God and to His church.

You are part of the plan, and God has a plan for your life. His plan will be the best for our lives; because His plan for you is for you to have a future and a hope. While God does have a plan for your life you don’t have to accept it.

God is looking to strengthen people who want His will in their lives. He’s looking for people whose hearts are loyal to him. God has a plan for your life but that plan depends on you being loyal to God.

Did you realize that even if you don’t belong to God, God still has a plan for your life? He sent His only begotten Son to die so that you could live eternally. Jesus came to give you a future and a hope. That’s God’s plan for you. And like all the other promises God has made you can turn Him away and reject His offer. You can just walk away.

But, if you want a future and if you want a hope you’ll realize what a great gift God has offered you. Every Christian came to Christ the same way. They didn’t become Christians because they were nice people. They were all sinners in need of forgiveness.

“Anyone can devise a plan by which good people might go to Heaven. Only God could devise a plan whereby sinners, who were His enemies, could go to Heaven.”

Lewis Chafer

The house that Allen is building will soon be ready for its new owners because he followed the plans. In order to have this nice house, he had to follow the plans one step at a time. In the near future, he will hand the keys to its new owner knowing that he followed the plans to completion.

That’s what God is doing in our lives!
