Working with Peter these past few weeks  I have not been able to get away from what Peter said:

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

I Peter 5:6-7

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

The older I get the more I become aware that there are certain things I can control in life. But greater yet is the idea that there are more things that I don’t have control over. Then this idea came to me. If God is holding my hand and I am holding to God’s hand at the same time then there isn’t anything for me to do but trust Him and hold on tight.

Years ago a pastor was going into a cave with a his family. As the tour guide was telling all about the things in the cave he was telling them how dark it would be if the lights all went out. About that time the lights began to go out one at a time until it was  totally dark. The pastor said as he stood there in the darkness he felt a little hand slip into his hand. The little hand began to squeeze and he just squeezed her hand back.

Said the robin to the sparrow,

“I would really like to know,

why these anxious human beings

rush around and worry so.”

Said the sparrow to the robin,

“Friend, I think that it must be,

that they have no Heavenly Father

such as cares for you and me.”
